I only lurked /qa/ during the soyjack era. I've been lurking 4chan around 2014-2015 because it felt like the global online village with flags every tech shill promised me. And came back around 2019 when I regularily browsed reddit, wykop and Polish altchans, but I don't remember which boards I used then.
I remember my pipeline could be like:
/int/ -> /pol/ -> /bant/ -> /qa/ -> soyjack websites
I unironically used /pol/ to browse global news like covid, amerimutt elections or war in Ukraine before realizing that it was a bait-ridden, extremely addicting place with people who believe in magic.

i did the same thing in like mid 2023 when i used to browse music subreddits and they used to mention /mu/ a lot so i decided to just start using 4chan

I didn't write a post on 4chan to this date, but it was hard for reddit to have a genuine discussion. Maybe they care about upvotes to much… I still post, but every conversation dies after 4 posts. Only one time I was arguing with some hyper-neurotypical mam who told somr jokes I didn't understand.
